Beaten down by life and with no real plan, Andy moves to a small town on the edge of the English Peak District. With Bella the cat to keep him company and an old motorbike for transport he settles into a routine of commuting to work and exploring the hills at weekends. That is, until his neighbour Tom, a retired car mechanic, takes more than a passing interest. Whilst encouraging him to explore some lesser known places in the hills, Tom is really steering Andy to explore some of the lesser known places in himself, to bring him back into balance with life. Through a series of demonstrations and exercises, often against the dramatic backdrop of ancient Peak District stone circles, Tom teaches Andy how to balance the body, still the mind and guide the emotions. With great warmth, compassion and humour Tom aligns Andy with a different way of living that places him at one with the land which he can use to renew himself. Of course, nothing is for free. For years Tom has been seeking an apprentice to work with him to continue an unbroken oral tradition that extends back to the time when the stone circles were built. Tom needs someone to take the tradition into the 21st century and the signs point to his new neighbour. So a bargain is struck across the generations and sealed with terrifying effect on a hillside in Derbyshire.
