Karen McGregor Richmond is a postdoctoral researcher at the Danish National Research Foundation's Centre of Excellence for International Courts, University of Copenhagen, and postgraduate researcher at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford. Her primary research focuses on expert evidence, and the interactions between law, science, and technology.

Using comparative case-study methods, the study highlights the need for a genuine theoretical engagement between the two domains and supports this endeavour with a range of empirically informed discussions, and detailed theoretical analyses. Revisiting the landmark cases, relevant legislative provisions, and government reports, the study offers a trenchant analysis of law's mutable understandings of expertise and scientific method.
