An induction motor is one that uses just amortisseur windings. In most circumstances, an induction motor is the simplest electrical machine to design. The induction motor operates on the induction principle, which induces an electromagnetic field into the rotor when the stator's spinning magnetic field intersects the stationary rotor. By far the most popular form of motor utilised in industrial, commercial, and household settings is the induction machine. Induction motors are split into two types: single phase and three phase. A single-phase induction motor is linked to a single-phase alternating current power source, whilst a three-phase induction motor may be connected to a three-phase alternating current power supply. Because three-phase squirrel-cage induction motors are self-starting, dependable, and inexpensive, they are commonly employed as industrial drives. Single-phase induction motors are often used for lesser loads, such as fans. Although induction motors have historically been utilised in fixed-speed applications, they are increasingly being employed in variable-speed applications when coupled with variable-frequency drives (VFDs). This book elucidates new techniques and their applications in a multidisciplinary approach. It talks in detail about the various uses and methods of induction motors. It is rich in useful information, without an excessive mathematical burden. It deals with modelling and analysis of induction motors, fault diagnosis of induction motors, analysis of natural frequency, radial force, advanced control techniques and failure diagnosis of squirrel-cage induction motor. It also explores sliding mode rotor flux, condition monitoring of induction motors, three-phase inverter fed induction motors and double mixed state-space variable dynamic model. The aim of this book is to provide this complex subject in an easy to understand and student friendly manner. The topics included in this book on induction motors are of utmost significance
