Synopsis

In an age when many are confused and distressed these sermons offer encouragement and reassurance. They expound and apply the relevant message of the Bible in a person-to-person relationship. The emphasis throughout is on the triumph of sovereign grace for forgiveness and new life to the blessing of the Kirk and community. Preaching The Word is an enlightening and exhilarating experience of great preaching for today s world. This volume of sermons demonstrates many of the virtues of good preaching. They illustrate various different ways of expounding scripture (and can serve as a model for other preachers to follow) and they also cover a wide range of Christian doctrine. They centre on the teaching of the biblical message but the teaching is never simply academic for its own sake but always with a view to the creation of faith and the building up of believers in Christian Living.
