Rod Hull worked for nearly forty years as an entertainer, writing many children's books and performing on television, radio and the stage. He is most remembered and loved for his double act with puppet Emu, with whom he starred in television series across the UK, USA, Canada and Australia. He lived at his home in Kent until his tragic death in 1999. Jo Davies studied illustration at Maidstone College of Art and Kingston University before becoming a lecturer at Bournemouth and Poole College of Art and Design. She is now Head of Illustration at the University of Plymouth and lives in Exeter. Mr Betts and Mr Potts is her first picture book.
When his pets suddenly develop spots, Mr Betts hurries to Mr Potts, the vet, for help. Mr Potts is happy to oblige, but his cure has alarming consequences. As the pets are afflicted with stripes, beards, tears and more, Mr Potts offers successive wonder medicines of different colours, until at last a remedy is found. Written in rollicking rhyme, and with illustrations that are just as outlandish as the story itself, Mr Betts and Mr Potts will appeal to everyone with a sense of the ridiculous.

Hardback. Etat : Fair. Davies, Jo (illustrateur). Originally published in 1968, this book became the standard work on the colonial period in the vast and varied areas of the coast and hinterland of West Africa. It is a comprehensive survey of the domination of West Africa by the British and the French, which challenges the accepted view of the colonialists that their rule was generally beneficial. Penetrating descriptions of the colonial economic system are given, and the quality of colonial administration is analysed, as well as the impact of two World Wars. N° de réf. du vendeur 00105928723
