On good days, Stella Blackstone lives east of the sun and west of the moon. On less good days, she lives at the bottom of a well. She finds ideas in all of these places and turns them into songs, poems and rhymes. She has read and written poetry for as long as she can remember, and her favourite books include Louis Untermeyer's A Child's Treasury of Poetry, which was a constant companion throughout her childhood, Paolo Coelho's The Alchemist, everything by T.S. Eliot, and William Buck's translation of The Ramayana. She lives in southwest England, and enjoys walking and working in her garden as well as doing nothing whenever she has the chance. Caroline Mockford is the mother of two growing boys. After gaining a degree in Fine Art, she worked as a nursery school teacher, an experience which gave her invaluable insight into how children explore and learn through books. Caroline works mainly in acrylics to achieve the strong and bold colours that are her trademark. Caroline's work with Barefoot Books includes What's This? (2000), The Elephants' Ears (2000) and her beloved Cleo series.
'A recent arrival on the celebrity cat scene is Cleo from Barefoot Books... These books are large enough to show easily to a group and the cat's adventures last over 10 double-page spreads, time enough for everyone to become involved. Text is minimal, rhyming loosely and the spines of the board books are satisfyingly chunky.' --Practical Parenting
'With simple rhyming text and bright, bold illustrations, this is a really effective and charming picture book for the very young.' --Bookseller
'This is a charming rhyming story book about an adventurous kitten and the little boy who looks after her. The expressive illustrations are gorgeously colourful with deep purples, greens and oranges and Cleo herself is as inquisitive as any toddler. There's even a bit of drama in the story. Highly recommended.' -Practical Parenting --Practical Parenting
