Synopsis
The seven stories in this book are the magical adventures of seven buttons who are now all jumbled up together in the button box. Among them are the pearl button from the fairy princess's ballgown, the button from the tiger's tailcoat, and the sailor's button that fell overboard and was caught by a mermaid. Woven around the stories are conversations between the buttons and button jokes, games, puzzles, and rhymes. Inspired by old children's annuals of the thirties, this is a big fat storybook with enormous type and Sally Gardner's own delicious drawings on every page. In concept and format it is unlike any other book around and it will have all the charm and magic that is characteristic of this gifted and original author-illustrator.

Sally Gardner was a very successful theatre designer before she turned to children's books. She started as an illustrator with such successes as A Book of Princesses and The Fairy Catalogue and is now writing her own stories with the Magical Children series. She lives in London.
