Patrick Cooper grew up in Wales, surrounded by dogs, ponies and old books. His favourite stories were included The Sword in the Stone and those by E Nesbit. He was initially a social worker, but more recently has been a puppeteer, writer and director for children's theatre. He is married and has two children.
It is 1966, and the times are changing. 15-year-pld Stephen is on his way to a French exchange when he meets two glamorous new frinds of his older brother, Rob, who has been missing for 18 months. They persuade Stephen to travel to Istanbul with them to find his brother. And what a world opens up to him - a world of beautiful girls, drug busts, fast-moving friendships and betrayals. Then, as he travels further into Asia, the nature of his journey changes: the search for his brother is replaced by an inner exploration, in which he must confront his own past, his own dark secret.
'A graphic novel, that really brings you into the story. An emotional ride to the middle east. Great reading!' Zosia Nowak (age 15)
Praise for Patrick Cooper's most recent title, Wing to Fly: 'Almost unbearable moving story of love, loss and the devastating effects of war.' Financial Times
