Synopsis
September 11 is throwing up some very stark questions for all humanity. What is the Bush administration doing in the world? Is US foreign policy making the planet a safer place for everyone, including Americans, or not? Stephen Zunes takes US foreign policy in the tinderbox that is the Middle East today and examines the reality of what successive administrations have been doing in Iran, Iraq, Palestine and Saudi Arabia. He produces a powerful case that the US faces a fundamental choice: continue to impose its Pax Americana (supporting repressive regimes and encouraging arms build-ups) or promote real peace (based on human rights, international law, and sustainable development). À propos de l?auteur
Stephen Zunes is an associate professor of Politics and chair of the Peace & Justice Studies Program at the University of San Francisco. He also serves as a senior policy analyst and Middle East editor for the Foreign Policy in Focus Project and as a research associate at the Center for Global, International and Regional Studies at the University of California - Santa Cruz.
