Synopsis

This is a book all about speed. It reveals how, to be a really effective dog trainer, you have to grab the moment. When a dog performs an action that you want it to do, the reward (treat, pat, word of praise) that marks your approval must come almost instantly. It s no good fumbling around in you r treat bag and producing a titbit five seconds after the dog has performed a perfect Sit. The link between command, action and your commendation will have been broken and that vital element of consistently reinforcing a desired behaviour is not being properly applied. In this inspiring new title, professional dog trainer, Claire Arrowsmith, provides instant advice that shows owners how they can really hone their training skills by thinking about their timing. She shows how training aids like a clicker can be incredibly effective in reinforcing behaviours, but only if they are used properly. Action Click Reward. It seems easy but it s got to be done right. The book also earns its instant tag because it shows how owners can just take a few minutes in the course of a normal day to top up good training habits.
