Hubert Butler (1900-1991) was an acclaimed Irish writer, essayist, and critic known for his insightful explorations of Irish identity, history, and culture. Born in Kilkenny, Butler was educated at the Royal Holloway College, London, and later returned to Ireland, where he became deeply engaged in the literary and political landscape of his time. His works often reflect a profound moral and philosophical inquiry, blending personal experience with broader social themes.
