Manfred von Richthofen - the Red Baron - was the most celebrated fighter pilot of the First World War, and was holder of the Blue Max, Pour le Merite, Germany's highest military decoration. He was credited with 80 victories in the air, before being shot down in disputed circumstances aged 26. In this autobiography Richthofen tells not only his own story but also that of his contemporaries, their duels in the sky, ever present danger, fame, honour and spiralling death.

So much has been sung and filmed and said about Manfred von Richtofen that it's nice to have a book which separates the myth and mystery from the reality and truth. Historically accurate. --Tribune
A superb new book perfectly timed for the 90th anniversary of the death of the famous Red Baron on 21st April 2008. This one certainly stands out head and shoulders above the crowd. Filled with extracts and a wealth of images, this really is a book worth adding to your Great War collection and at the price represents excellent value. A must have 10/10. --The Great War
