Synopsis

Indian is a magic name in motorcycling. Its mention brings to mind machines with flamboyant bold striping, lithe of appearance and, seemingly even at rest, poised for flight. There were over two dozen makes of motorcycle on the market during the heyday of motorcycling in the United States. Yet in the minds of many enthusiasts, none of these quite approached the verve, style, artistic functionality of design or handling abilities of the Indian. The Iron Redskin is the story of the most loved of American motorcycles. It is a vast work that has taken many thousands of hours to compile, yet it is one of the most readable and interesting motorcycle histories ever to be published.

A propos du livre

À propos de l'auteur

Harry Sucher’s fascination with Indians began with a ride on a friend’s Powerplus in 1921. He owned various models, assembling a large collection of antique machines, which in turn led to intensive research into Indian’s complex history. He has spent a lifetime researching and studying motorcycles and the people who helped shape the sport in this country. He started collecting data as a young boy, when many of the motorcycle pioneers were available for personal interviews. Throughout his life, many of the original people assisted him in preparing original manuscripts, thus insuring historical accuracy for years to come. Harry Sucher lives in California.
