Nigel studied photography at Plymouth College of Art & Design and University of Westminster. He worked in professional photography for 15 years in a various fields, including weddings, portraits, advertising, exhibition printing, ballistics/weapons photography, cruiseship photography and stock photography (for Getty Images). He joined the staff of Amateur Photographer magazine in 1994, first as Technique Writer then Features Editor. Nigel was appointed editor of What Digital Camera in 2002.

Steve’s first job was as a photographer's assistant, before gaining a diploma in photography and design from Bournemouth and Poole College of art in 1987. He has worked for ITV broadcasting as a video editor and assistant camera operator on programmes such as The Ruth Rendell Mysteries and ITN news. More recently he has designed and created 'Digital' and 'AmigaActive' magazine for Pin Print Publishing and designed artwork for the Football Association, the Body Shop and Yahoo. Steve joined What Digital Camera in 2002 and has since co-authored 'An A to Z of Digital Photography' with Nigel Atherton.
