This work includes 300 fantastic science experiments and fun history projects for home learning and school study. It contains over 1700 colour photographs, artworks, diagrams and maps to inform and inspire. It introduces scientific principles through practical example, and aids understanding of the past through creative model-making, costume and craft. Learn how ships float or why volcanoes erupt; create a Greek sword and shield, make a working camera, build an ant colony, and grow plants from seed. This extensive collection of projects and experiments will provide young scientists and historians with hours of fun and creative learning. Each project includes step-by-step instructions and photographs and artworks: in the science section these explain a scientific theory or show how something works; and in the history section they provide a practical insight into how our ancestors lived centuries ago. Recreate the customs, arts and entertainments of the past, from Egyptian wall painting and Japanese ikebana to a Celtic harp and a Viking lucky charm. The book reflects school-curriculum science, with information sections that cover many aspects of earth sciences, natural history, technology and transport.
