'The Good Food Guide' was the brainchild of the journalist and social commentator Raymond Postgate, who wanted to improve the lot of British diners in the aftermath of the Second World War. Since its inception in the early 1950s, 'The Good Food Guide' has sought to 'raise the standard of cooking in Britain' by offering unbiased reviews of dining establishments in the UK.

Today, we continue to pride ourselves on being completely independent and impartial. 'The Good Food Guide' is compiled from scratch every year, and all reviews are based on reader feedback and inspections are carried out anonymously. We pay for every meal we review and do not accept advertising.

This year s Guide includes over 1,300 recommendations, from the Cornish coast to the Scottish Highlands, as well as foodie features, interviews with top chefs and £50 worth of money-off vouchers. To celebrate this special anniversary, we are offering two readers the chance to win a day at the exclusive Raymond Blanc Cookery School at his world-renowned restaurant Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons in Oxfordshire.
