Synopsis

In the freezing woods of Norway, dead men leave footprints in the snow. Their SS uniforms are riddled with bullet holes, their hearts frozen solid, and their rotting flesh frostbitten. What should have been a routine raid takes a horrific turn for Commandos Leo Mantelow and Lionel Stone as they face down something from out of a nightmare!

Blending war and supernatural horror in a classic British Comics black-and-white format, this collection brings together the three bestselling Commandos vs Zombies issues from Britain’s longest-running war comic, Commando.

The stunning artwork is blown up to full graphic-novel size and features all the original covers as well as a brand-new wrap-around by Neil Roberts. A never-before-seen prose story is also included as a bonus, alongside an interview with the creator, and contributor biographies.

Written by Georgia Standen Battle, Commando’s first female writer in 30 years, alongside master comics artist Vicente Alcazar (Archie Comics, Red Circle Comics, DC Comics and Marvel Comics), and with covers by Neil Roberts (2000 AD, Warhammer), and British Comics legend Ian Kennedy!

À propos des auteurs

Originally from London, Georgia Standen Battle is a DC Thomson comics staffer, working on titles such as Commando, Beano, The Dandy, The Broons and Oor Wullie.
Battle started her career at Titan Comics but, once established at DC Thomson, wrote her first issue for Commando, #5229 ‘The Shadow in the Sky’, making her the first woman to have written for the title since the 1980s. Since then, Battle has written many Commandos, including the ‘Commandos vs Zombies’ series.

Born in Madrid in 1944, Vicente Alcazar is a Spanish artist who started his career in the 1960s. Alcazar has worked on Archie Comics, Red Circle Comics, DC Comics and Marvel Comics. He is well-known for his horror work, particularly and his run on Jonah Hex.

Alcazar collaborated with fellow Commando artist Carlos Pino under the portmanteau pseudonym CARVIC, working on war comics for Chio and War Picture Library. Despite this, Alcazar’s first Commando wasn’t until 2015. Since then, Alcazar has become a regular contributor to Commando, with many issues taking advantage of his background in horror artwork.
