Born in Oxnard, California in 1957 and 1959 respectively, Gilbert and Jaime Hernandez shot to fame when Love and Rockets was first published in 1981. Alongside their brother Mario, 'Beto' and Jaime crafted the epic series Palomar and the tales of Maggie and Hopey. Both brothers are still working on high-profile comics; 'Beto' on Speak of the Devil and Jaime on Maggie stories for The New Yorker.
