Synopsis

Part of the authoriative and thought -provoking five-volume series - Scotland: The Making and Unmaking of the Nation c.1100-1707. Volume 5 (Major Documents) is a collection of primary sources chosen by the authors of the chapters in volumes 1 and 2, giving the reader direct access to the original documents upon which historians make their judgements about the past. This volume can be read in conjunction with volumes 1-4 but it also stands alone as an excellent collection of primary sources from medieval and early modern Scotland, some of which have never before been published.
