We must conclude either that everything each individual detail in the known universe, and especially planet earth, evolved against a series of unimaginable, unbelievable and infinitesimal odds or we should look for an alternative and more reasonable explanation. It is that more reasonable explanation which is presented in this book. However, the beauty and order, the incredible harmony and diversity, is too often shattered by violence and pain, disorder and death. Before our journey in this book concludes, we will face the questions posed by theologians, scientists and philosophers for millennia: What went wrong and what is the purpose of it all? But first, enjoy the panorama of a creation so beautifully detailed, ordered and complex that it would be unbelievable if it was not there in front of us.

Professor Stuart Burgess BSc, PhD, CEng, FIMechE has held academic posts in the Faculty of Engineering at Bristol University, the Engineering Department at Cambridge University and the Biology Department at Liberty University in the USA. He was the lead designer for the solar array deployment on the world s largest civilian earth-observing spacecraft (Envisat). He also led the design and testing of the chain drive for the world record-breaking track bikes used by the British Olympic Cycling Team at the Rio Olympics. He has published over 150 scientific papers on the science of design. He also has seven patents and received several national awards for his designs including the Turners Gold Medal and Molins Design Prize awarded by the minister of State for Trade and Industry. He has written several books on apologetics and is a popular international speaker. Stuart is married to Jocelyn and they have five children. Professor Andy McIntosh DSc, FIMA, CMath, FEI, CEng, FInstP, MIGEM, FRAeS is the inventor of the Mist novel spray technology which copies the Bombardier beetle spray and has led to a novel spray technology being applied to fuel injectors, pharmaceutical sprays, aerosols and fire extinguishers. This was awarded the 2010 Times Higher Educational award for the Outstanding Contribution to Innovation and Technology. He was until 2014 Professor of Thermodynamics and Combustion Theory at the University of Leeds. He has had a long scientific research career concerning mathematics, combustion and aeronautics, both in academia and in a government establishment, and is now a visiting research professor at Leeds and an adjunct professor at the University of Mississippi. A speaker on creation and who has conducted debates both in the UK and overseas, Professor McIntosh is author of many books and research articles including Genesis for today. He is married and currently has six grandchildren. Brian Edwards holds a degree in theology from the University of London and is the author of over twenty books and the editor/contributor to the DayOne Travel Guide series and a number of symposiums. He co-authored the popular Through the British Museum with the Bible and Evidence for the Bible, both available in the British Museum bookshop. Brian was pastor of an evangelical church in London before becoming President of the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC), an affiliation of 60 churches across the UK. He is a founder Trustee of the Praise! hymn book and Christian Prison Resourcing. Currently, Brian preaches and lectures across the UK and abroad. After the death of his wife Barbara, he married Rosie, herself a widow of a Baptist pastor. Between them they have four sons and a daughter.
