Prof. Judith Barr Bachay, Ph.D., L.M.H.C., is from the U.S.A. She is Professor of Counselor Education at St. Thomas University, in Miami, Florida, and serves as Coordinator of the Master of Science in Guidance and Counseling Program. She is the Founding Advisor of the Women United for Human Rights organization, and a founding member of the Center for Loss and Healing. She has authored two conflict resolution books for the Peace Education Foundation and is a network member of Women Waging Peace. Her research and publication agenda includes the intersection of race, gender, human rights, and peace. She is married to John Bachay, a feminist psychotherapist, and is the mother of Jessica, Jacqueline, and Daniel. She recently was awarded a Fulbright Scholar Lecturing Award for Slovenia. The Rev. Prof. Raúl Fernández-Calienes, Ph.D., is from Cuba. He is an ordained minister of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and is currently Executive Assistant to the Dean and Visiting Associate Professor at the St. Thomas University School of Law. He has served on the staffs of the Aboriginal & Islander Commission of the National Council of Churches in Australia and of the St. Thomas University Human Rights Institute in the U.S. A prolific writer, his English and Spanish-language publications include many works. Also a sought-after researcher and editor, he has done editorial and/or production work for numerous other award-winning authors, themselves published in the Americas, Asia, Europe, and the Pacific. In 1990, he was awarded a Fellowship for Human Rights Work from the Consortium on Rights Development; in 2000, he was awarded a Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation Practicum Grant. He is co-editor of Women Moving Forward: Volume One: Narratives of Identity, Migration, Resilience, and Hope (2006).
