Synopsis

'I am not cut out for regular employment. I'm useless with computers and offices make me claustrophobic. I could set out to marry a rich man but that might have to limit my sex life, and I'm not ready for that quite yet. I am what Max the concierge describes as a vocational, rather than a working, girl. I like sex; I'm good at it, and sometimes I feel it's what I'm best at; what I feel I'm for.' Our Vocational Girl isn't a tart. She just loves sex, and isn't averse to a gift or two if it comes her way. All the cheerful and enthusiastic Vanessa, brilliant and beautiful daughter of a lady vicar, ever wants to do is please - however demanding her masters. But as she follows her calling, moving from artistic soirees to occult circles she is manoeuvred into porn stardom (high production values, mind) and discovers just how exacting her masters can be: she'll be lucky to escape with her life, and her soul, intact. As a safety valve, Vanessa develops an alter-ego, Joan. It's easier being Joan than Vanessa: Joan's not as bright, doesn't think too much - she's the girl with the body not the brain, the sex-and-shopping girl. Together, the two girls occupy one body and through its sexual triumphs and humiliations along the bumpy road to eventual redemption. Intelligent and engaging, sexy and provocative, "Vocational Girl" is a highly moral tale of a very naughty girl.
