He reached a nadir with conventional medicine when the head consultant referred to him as 'twiggy', and he realised that the treatments were often making him worse, not better. He began looking at alternative therapies, which understood the totality of illness. He embarked on a spiritual journey, learning healing techniques to unlock the physician within.
