Synopsis

Helen Conroy is happily married with two teenage children and a husband she adores, when war is declared. Despite the bombing of two homes, she holds her family together and takes them back to her father's house, in a Dorset village. She is shattered when her husband asks her for a divorce. Then, in September, 1942, US troops pour into Mowbray. For the Brits, life will never be the same again. The GIs bring hope and fun along with their cigarettes, chewing gum and nylons.
