Présentation de l'éditeur

In Pakistan he was stoned by the crowd at a packed Lahore Cricket Ground and had to flee for his life. In Turkey the crowd burnt down the stadium where he d been performing. Whenever Orig Williams, or El Bandito as he was known in the ring, took his shows abroad there were always complications, and corruption was never too far away. He fought with and promoted some of the best Giant Haystacks, Lord Steven Regal, Big Daddy, Jackie Pallo, Klondyke Bill, Les Kellet, Adrian Street - and many began their careers being trained by him in a Rhyl garage. He was the first to promote women wrestlers on TV, which was universally condemned by headlines and protest meetings. He staged the first female Women s World Championship in Nigeria. Mizi Mueller, Klondyke Kate and Tina Sar were regulars on his show. Initially his main battle, as a small independent wrestling promoter, was with the big bullyboys of the industry, but eventually he and his fellow independent promoters played a significant part in their downfall. He was told by the villagers of his native Ysbyty Ifan and the teachers at Llanrwst, that no good would come of him. A prophecy that motivated him throughout his colourful life. He showed promise as a footballer in the RAF, and played professionally for Oldham and Shrewsbury Town. But later he attracted far more headlines as a player/manager of the dirtiest team in the Welsh League , as he himself was threatened with a life ban for being sent off more often in the history of the Football Association of Wales itself one of the oldest associations in the world. A fierce nationalist, a friend of poets, bards, midgets, gangsters and psychopathic wrestlers Orig Williams had a remarkable journey. Sadly he passed away last year, but not before recalling his tale on tape. This is his story.
