Learn Welsh to use at home with your children. A 3-CD course with a clear, easy-to-use practice book. These CDs have evolved out of tailored classes designed for busy parents at Ysgol y Bannau, a Welsh-speaking primary school in Brecon. Each unit gives you simple, everyday language you can use with your children or grandchildren in the home and with other parents and teachers in the community. For example, they include phrases for teatime, bedtime and language to help you start the day in Welsh. As you gradually work through each new language pattern you will also learn how to praise your child in Welsh or how to explain to a teacher who is collecting your child from school or playgroup that day. The CDs give you plenty of practice. There are two first-language Welsh speakers to copy, long gap lengths and plenty of track breaks for speedy repetition whenever you feel you need it. Accompanying the 3 CDs, the book contains clear target language boxes and is designed to stand up in the kitchen or lounge to help you practise the phrases when you actually need them. There are additional explanations and written exercises (with all the answers) in the book and a clear, track-by-track summary of all the Welsh included on each CD so that you can quickly find the phrase you want to practise again. Both the CDs and book have been tested by parents even the suggestion that the book should stand up came from a busy mother of three!

Lisa Jones is an applied linguist. Before she had children she worked full-time for Canning, where she designed and taught highly tailored English courses to a wide variety of foreign business people. When her first child was one she moved to Wales, where she started to learn Welsh from scratch. After studying at the University of Glamorgan and teaching for 3 years at Coleg Gwent (helping other learners through the first three Welsh for Adults exams Mynediad, Sylfaen and Canolradd) she started running classes for parents at her children s Welsh-speaking primary school in order to raise money for school funds. She now combines occasional work as an Associate Canning Trainer in London with voluntary work for her community. Lisa lives near Brecon.
