Présentation de l'éditeur

For the first time, in Despite The Knockbacks, the full story of the development of the Welsh regions and the death of The Celtic Warriors and valleys rugby is revealed. Howells discusses how the regions were set up by David Moffett, the WRU chief executive, and how the development affected The Warriors and its benefactor, Leighton Samuel. Howells describes how the players and staff were treated like cattle when they were disbanded, and much of the information found in the book has never been revealed before. Since coaching The Celtic Warriors, his appointments have taken him to Italy, Edinburgh and Doncaster, and presently he is the director of rugby for the Romanian national team. Howells has also been invited to coach the Barbarians. The book s foreword is by Graham Henry, a lifelong friend of Howells, and the book gives an insight into Henry s coaching methods. Howells talks about many Welsh players including Gavin Henson who he capped for the first time whilst on the tour to Japan. Born and brought up in the Rhondda Valley, Howells also describes valley life for a miners son who had an arch Communist for a grandfather.
