Matthew Oates got hooked on British butterflies at the age of nine. He works as a nature conservation advisor for the National Trust, has made several appearances on TV and radio, and has published a number of studies and articles on butterflies and other aspects of wildlife conservation. He lives in the Cotswolds with his wife and four children.
