Richard Buchholz started his professional career as a chartered accountant, went into banking, and now consults to banks. His writing started in his university days as editor of his Residence magazine which normally meant writing most of the articles. Nevertheless, a love of writing persisted throughout his professional career, which he fulfilled by writing numerous articles and technical publications. When the chance came to write When Sex Was Safe and Motor Racing Dangerous for family friend Paddy Driver, he jumped at it, even though it meant long hours after work. He is already busy on his next book. Appropriately, he lives in Kyalami in South Africa with his ever-patient wife, Annemarie, and son Michael. His daughter, Sarah, is studying architecture in the USA.
