Steve Augarde was born in Birmingham, but spent most of his life in the West Country, working as an illustrator, paper-engineer, and semi-pro jazz musician. He has written and illustrated over 70 picture-books for younger children, and has produced the paper-engineering for many pop-up books, including those by other artists - as well as providing the artwork and music for two animated BBC television series. His first book for older children, THE VARIOUS, won a Silver Smarties Award in 2003.
IN THE FIGHT FOR SURVIVAL, ANYTHING GOES
The floods have come. Some are lucky to be alive. Though they might not count themselves lucky. In the aftermath of global devastation, those left barely survive, living in fear and near starvation. They have lost everything, including their future.
But there is one way out: a boat to X Isle.
And Baz is about to take it.
'It's a gripping and often unsettling tale, and it's suffused with a sense of genuine loss' Irish Times
'Long, rich and exciting; full to bursting with imaginative ideas and images' Carousel
'X Isle . . . will thrill you' Flipside
