This work is about the activity which needs to take place both in schools and LEAs in order to educate young people for the future. It looks at a strategy which has been used in one LEA to implement change in the primary phase and puts forward a collection of exemplary school based workshop material which has been tried and tested out on many inservice occasions with groups of teachers. An attempt has been made to make each chapter "free-standing" so that it can be read in isolation for a particular purpose. Alternatively, particular chapters might be selected according to the needs of the readers. The book has been written with three audiences in mind, the L.E.A, the headteacher and the classroom practitioner. Paragraphs from the book may be chosen by reading the synopsis of the chapters in the contents list for whatever purpose the reader has in mind.
