This narrative relates the day-to-day experience of an aid worker in Yemen. The author casts an anthropolgical eye on the large range of people - permanent officials in aid organizations, temporary aid workers, the bureaucrats of the host country and community leaders - involved in the activities. Showing the differences of interests and values among these people, he questions the wisdom of imposed development.
