Synopsis

In this textbook, professors Stefan Lundgren and Lars Sennerby presents their views on the biological and clinical principals of contemporary augmentation procedures of the alveolar process. This book is the result of several years of collaboration including clinical and experimental research focusing on the development of bone augmentation techniques and implant integration. It includes didactic step-by-step presentations of different techniques for augmentation for all kind of challenging bone deficiency situations to be used prior to or in conjunction with endosseous implant placement. Severely atrophic edentulous jaws, post- traumatic treatment in the anterior maxilla and augmentation of the posterior maxilla and mandibles, are some of the methods presented. Close follow-up of extensive patient groups resulting in clinical and experimental research are presented in the authors own publications. More than 20 scientific papers are justifying the methods presented in the book covering more than 15 years of experience in reconstruction of the alveolar process. A close follow-up with controlled step-by-step changes of the surgical protocol over the years and subsequently development of new surgical methods are presented. The surgical techniques and instruments used are presented in detail with more than 400 illustrations.
