This records the development of photography through the images and their makers, from the early pioneers to the great photographers' art by master photographer Cecil Beaton, and biographical and technical details written by Gail Buckland, Ex-Curator of the Royal Photographic Society. Major artists are represented by a selection of photographs which are characteristic of their work. Gail Buckland has written "Fox Talbot and the Invention of Photography" and "The Golden Summer - Edwardian Photographs of Horace W.Nicholls". She is Adjunct Professor of the History of Photography at the Cooper Union, New York.
