Project management as a technique is being adopted by some segments of almost every business, government, organisation and association. This is not surprising given that the concept can be applied to almost everything we do, from getting up in the morning to going to bed at night. This book looks at the sometimes anomalous position of the "project manager" who often seems to have little actual authority and receives scant cooperation. There are undoubtedly some special pressures exerted on someone managing a project, compared with someone in a line management position. What this book includes - and what most business books leave out - are the emotions aroused by anyone who's trying to do a really good job in the face of long odds. It also contains a wealth of irreverent yet apposite reflections on the philosophy and technicalities of the business of project management.
