Synopsis
A case study in the management of a television station, this is a history of LWT from its appointment in 1968 to its recent 21st anniversary celebrations. It is an account of this company's troubles and triumphs, and analyzes the problems of reconciling commercial demands with public service. LWT runs television's most difficult franchise, having been appointed on the strength of its promise to bring culture to the masses. Power struggles within the company often led to the undermining of those bold ambitions. As well as detailing the contributions of many talented people, the book focuses on such key movers as David Frost and Rupert Murdoch.
