The authors highlight the transition from childhood to adulthood and the impact this has on the management of the disease. Drawing on personal experience, they explore a practical approach to the diagnosis of the various causes of epilepsy, medical and surgical management, and when to refer the patient to an epilepsy specialist or clinic.
