Johann Rudolph Wyss (1782 - 1830) was a Swiss writer who published The Swiss Family Robinson in 1812 under his own name, although he acknowledged subsequently that he had edited the book from a much longer story written by his father Johann David Wyss. The story of castaways on a tropical island has gone on to be one of the most popular books of all time.
