All the contributors to this volume are leading scholars in the field of assessment and policy-making. The members of the BERA Assessment Policy Task Group who produced the papers are Professor Patricia Broadfoot (University of Bristol), Dr Bryan Dockrell (University of Newcastle), Dr Caroline Gipps (University of London, Institute of Education), Professor Wynne Harlen (Scottish Council for Research in Education) and Professor Desmond Nuttall (University of London, Institute of Education). Professor Brian Simon is Emeritus Professor at the University of Leicester and Professor A. McPherson is co-director of The Centre for Educational Sociology, University of Edinburgh.
