Small smudge on the side that carries over lightly onto the first few pages (4-18). Small tea-colored spot on the side of the first free end paper and at the top of the last free end paper, both spots a little smaller than a dime. Other than the author's signature, there is no writing on the interior and no previous owner's bookplate or stamp. Not remaindered. Stated "Published in 1994" on the back of the title page; no other printings or publications are listed. The book opens naturally to the title page, which is also the signature page where it is boldly signed by Bryan MacMahon. The dust jacket is near fine as well. Some of the gold ink that forms the box around the title on the cover has rubbed off on the right hand side and bottom. Very moderate crinkle to the bottom of spine. Otherwise, no discernible rips, tears, or creases. Not price-clipped: the price of £15.99 is intact. in a protective Brodart Mylar cover. "Writing," Bryan MacMahon once remarked, "is a man or woman pausing to embroider life." "The Storyman" explores the experiences and personalities that provided the sources for MacMahon's creative works. MacMahon was renowned as a distinguished Irish writer and an exemplary school teacher. "(If) I could only plant a seed in the imagination of each (student) that would fructify later in each individual; if only I could find the gift that I sensed was latent in each one of them: perhaps then I would have fulfilled the purpose of my being a teacher." MacMahon's autobiography, "The Master", was published in 1992 to critical acclaim and was awarded the American Ireland Fund Literary Award in 1993. Signed by Author(s). N° de réf. du vendeur 5447
