Every refugee and forcibly displaced person is a symbol of the denial of human rights in our world. Sadly such denial is all too widespread as the world's population of refugees and forcibly displaced persons has reached 50 million. While fleeing persecution and human rights abuses, these same people often find that in their host societies, they are victims of unjust asylum procedures, racism and xenophobia.
