<I>Die Räuber</I>, Schiller’s first play, was the last major document of the German <I>Sturm und Drang</I> era. Schiller toned down the original version and the resultant Trauserspiel was the form in which <I>Die Räuber </I>was presented in the famous Blackwell edition of Magill and Willoughby. This completely new edition reproduces the original unexpurgated <I>Schausepiel</I> and provides and introduction with notes fully geared to the needs of the modern student.
