Synopsis

After setting the scene, the author explains how prosecutions are commenced and then deals in turn with trial on indictment, sentencing and appeals, before moving on to cover a number of miscellaneous matters, such as what happens prior to the first court appearance, appeals, granting of bail and legal aid.
The book concludes with an imaginary brief which enables the reader to put into a practical context much of the theory previously explained.
