Declan Donnellan founded Cheek by Jowl, which he ran for fifteen years followed by a freelance theatre and opera directing career including an all-male As You Like It, the world premiere of Angels in America at the National, the National's magnificent revival of Sweeney Todd</em., the RSC's Great Expectations and, most recently, breathtaking productions of The Changeling and Tis Pity She's A Whore on tour and at the Barbican.
