This is an expanded and illustrated edition of a classic work on the design and performance of cruising yachts which was first published in 1945, and has been out of print since the Sixties. The author's daughter, Joan Jardine-Brown - herself a yacht designer - has added to his original text a biographical portrait, new descriptions of the boats, 20 design plans, and 16 pages of contemporary photographs illustrating her father's boats. T. Harrison Butler was an ophthalmic surgeon and eye specialist who designed sailing boats as a hobby. Yachts are still being built to his plans, and there is an international Harrison Butler Association.
