Synopsis

Containing 24 projects inspired by medieval art, this book includes hunting scenes, depictions of chivalric endeavour and the plant and animal motifs which give medieval design its charm. These decorative themes are offered for practical items such as seat covers, cushions, a fire screen and a glasses case. Each project is illustrated by a colour reproduction of the medieval image that inspired it - a page from an illuminated manuscript, for example, or a piece of stained glass - and a colour photograph of the finished item taken on location in an authentic medieval setting. Pattern charts and practical stitch diagrams are provided, and the book is intended for beginners as well as experts.
