Moore and Hedgecoe were close friends for over thirty years and, from their very first meeting in 1952, Moore recognised Hedgecoe's ability to capture the essence of his work in photographs. Here John Hedgecoe illustrates not only the sculptures themselves, but also the sources from which Moore took his inspiration - from the bleak landscape of his native Yorkshire with its gnarled and twisted trees and stones, through the 'primitive' carvings of ancient civilizations in South America and Africa, to the sumptuous curves of the female nude. The result is a masterly photographic essay and an illuminating study of one of the greatest artistic geniuses of the twentieth century." [Quote from the publisher's blurb on the front flap of the dustwrapper] ***First impression of this edition, complete in its original dustwrapper in nice collectable condition. A photographic biography of the sculptor Henry Moore. ***A near fine copy of this beautifully produced book, which is hard to find in hardback, as most copies were published in softcover format.
