F W Lancaster is Professor Emeritus in Library and Information Science at the Graduate School of Library & Information Science, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA. He is the author or editor of many other publications, several of which have received national awards from the American Society for Information Science and the American Library Association. These include the UK editions of If you Want to Evaluate your Library, and of Technology and Management in Library and Information Services for Facet Publishing.
