Synopsis

Much can be done to enhance the celebration of the Eucharist as an experience of prayer and to contribute to the prayerful quality of the liturgy. What is offered here are resources for use at various moments during the Mass. Part One contains texts for use in creating a prayer moment at seven different points in the celebration including a large number of texts for creating a mood of prayer at the start of Mass (including texts for the penitential rite), and texts to bring about a feeling of being sent at the end. Part Two provides sets of prayers of the faithful for the full three-year cycle. These prayers are focused on the Scripture readings of the particular day, transposing something of their meaning into the mode of prayer. There is an index of the Scripture references, to facilitate the use of the intercessions for Scripture-based prayer and meditation. In addition, all the prayers for the dead are collated for easy access at funeral time.
