This book is designed to provide core theory and case examples predominantly around clinical and educational leadership for doctors, nurses and other health professionals. It includes other aspects of leadership in health professions, including leading research initiatives and leadership of professional groups and specialities. It takes an international perspective, drawing on contemporary best practice in health professions' leadership. This book brings together the generic aspects of leadership (and strategic management) theory relating to clinical and educational contexts, whilst setting these within frameworks and case studies relating to a range of professional groups. This book would be a useful adjunct to more theoretical recommended texts for postgraduate certificates in clinical teaching, health professions education or in academic practice for clinical teachers. It might also be recommended for medical students and junior doctors to address the GMC requirements that doctors are trained to teach'. Also for educational supervisors in NHS Trusts as these have to be accredited in 2010 in order to meet General Medical Council/Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board training and education standards.
